On March 21st, the Bishop duo embarked on a fishing expedition in their Excel Storm Cat 230 vessel, navigating the vast 20,000-acre expanse of Lake Oconee in north-central Georgia. Their primary objective was to locate and target deep underwater structures within the lake's channels, specifically searching for dispersed concentrations of baitfish. Clay noted that with a water temperature of 68 degrees, they successfully identified small baitfish schools situated in depths ranging from 18 to 30 feet, which marked their initial fishing spots.

Innovative Techniques for Deepwater Success

Upon discovering the scattered baitfish at greater depths, Clay deduced that these locations would also attract actively feeding catfish. Employing the "spot lock" feature of his electric motor, he skillfully maintained their boat's position directly over the bait schools.
